Join us for an unforgettable family residential in the heart of Somerset’s stunning countryside, nestled in the peaceful village of Cheddar. This is a rare opportunity for Muslim families to step away from the hustle of everyday life and immerse themselves in a weekend of connection, adventure, and spiritual growth.

A hike through Cheddar Gorge is like stepping into a natural cathedral—soaring limestone cliffs, dramatic winding paths, and views that stretch across the Mendip Hills to the sea.

Whether you’re chasing adventure, peace, or the perfect photo, Cheddar Gorge delivers an unforgettable experience that stays with you long after the last step.

For those families who still have some adventure left in them, we will be heading to Cliveden Natioanl Trust, Maidenhead on our way home.

Cliveden, a stunning National Trust estate perched above the River Thames, offers a blend of grandeur, history, and natural beauty. With its magnificent gardens, woodland walks, and panoramic river views, it’s the perfect place to escape and soak in centuries of British heritage. Whether you’re strolling through the formal parterre, exploring secret trails, or enjoying a riverside picnic, Cliveden promises a memorable day out for all ages.

FAQs

1. How do we get there?

Families make their own way either via private or public transport. You will  require transportation during the residential to get to places.

 

2. What age is it suitable for?

The residential is designed to cater to a range of interests and abilities, with a mix of leader-led activities (included in the price) and optional adventures that families can enjoy independently or with friends. As many of the activities involve plenty of walking, we would deem the experience most suitable for children aged 5 and above. This flexible setup allows each family to tailor their experience—whether they join group activities or create their own moments—ensuring a meaningful and enjoyable stay for all.

 

 

3. What is the accommodation like?

Our accommodation is hostel-style. Each private  room features comfortable bunk beds. There are no en-suite facilities. Shared spaces include bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen for self-catering, dining area, and a lounge. The entire building is exclusively hired by TawakCool Adventures, ensuring that all facilities are used just by our group. Bed linen is provided.

 

4. What about meals?

Our residential is self-catering, providing flexibility for families to manage their own meals. Here are some convenient options to make food arrangements easy and enjoyable:

(a) Pre-cook at Home: You can prepare meals at home, freeze them, and bring them to the centre. There are  fridge/freezer facilities on-site to store your food, which can be reheated whenever needed.

(b) Cook at the Centre: The centre features a fully equipped kitchen with all the necessary cooking utensils, crockery, and cutlery. Just bring your groceries, and you can cook meals on-site.

(c) Eat Out: You can also dine out in local restaurants.

Terms and Conditions

To help ensure a safe, respectful, and enjoyable experience for all, please read the following terms and conditions carefully:

Guests and Room Allocation

  • The number of guests must not exceed the number of beds booked, except where a child (up to 3 years old) shares a bed with a parent — subject to organiser approval.

Cost

  • The cost per bed is £95 for 3 days and 2 nights, regardless of age.
  • Children aged 3 and under who share a bed with a parent stay free.

Behaviour Expectations

  • All guests are expected to uphold Islamic values of good character, respect, and modesty.
  • Behaviour such as verbal or physical abuse, foul language, smoking (including e-cigarettes), or inappropriate dress will not be tolerated.
  • Guests who do not adhere to these standards may be asked to leave the residential without refund.

Supervision of Children

  • Adults are fully responsible for the supervision, behaviour, and wellbeing of the children in their care throughout the trip.
  • Children must be guided to respect the space, rules, and others around them.

Damage to Property

  • Any damage to property — whether accidental or deliberate — must be reported to the organisers immediately.
  • The cost of any repairs or replacements will be charged to the responsible individual(s).

Cleanliness and Cooperation

  • All guests are expected to maintain cleanliness in both personal and shared spaces.
  • At the end of the stay, guests must clean their rooms and help tidy shared areas. This is in line with the Sunnah and a valuable way to set an example for our children.

Activities

  • Participation in planned activities is optional.
  • Guests take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety and that of their family members during these activities.

Booking and Payment

  • Bookings are only confirmed once full payment has been received.
  • TawakCool Adventures reserves the right to cancel unpaid or provisional bookings without notice.

Cancellations and Refunds

  • No cancellations or refunds are permitted within 8 weeks of the trip start date.
  • If TawakCool Adventures cancels an event, guests may request a refund or transfer their payment to a future trip.

Transferring Bookings

  • If you’re unable to attend, you may transfer your booking to another individual or family.
  • You must notify the organisers in advance, and while we’re happy to assist, finding a replacement remains your responsibility.

Photography and Filming

  • Photos and videos may be taken during the residential for marketing and social media purposes.
  • If you or your family prefer not to be photographed, please let us know in advance.

Accommodation Style

  • We book hostels that promote a warm, communal, and inclusive atmosphere.
  • Rooms are simple but comfortable, with access to shared kitchens, cosy lounges, and outdoor spaces that encourage connection and reflection.

Feedback and Concerns

  • If you have any concerns during the trip, please speak to the organisers or designated residential leads as soon as possible so we can address the matter promptly.
