New Forest Muslim Family Adventure

🌄 Event Overview

Escape to the Heart of the New Forest

Imagine waking to birdsong, watching wild ponies grazing just beyond your window, wandering through ancient woodland with your family and ending the day sharing stories over dinner with new friends.

Join TawakCool Adventures for an unforgettable family weekend in the heart of the New Forest National Park, one of England’s most spectacular and treasured landscapes.

Created almost 1,000 years ago by William the Conqueror as a royal hunting forest, the New Forest is now home to ancient woodland, vast open heathland, peaceful streams and an extraordinary variety of wildlife. Covering over 220 square miles, it is famous for its free-roaming ponies, deer, cattle and donkeys, which have grazed these landscapes for centuries. With miles of quiet walking and cycling trails weaving through some of Britain’s oldest forests, it is the perfect place for families to slow down, explore and reconnect with nature.

Over three memorable days, you’ll enjoy a relaxed programme designed around Adventure, Reflection and Connection. Stay together at the YHA hostel, choose your own walking or cycling adventure during our Great New Forest Safari Quest,   take part in fun family challenges, celebrate together during our awards evening with campfire, and finish the weekend with a visit to the beautiful beaches and gardens of Bournemouth.

More than just a weekend away, this is a rare opportunity for Muslim families to strengthen family bonds, build friendships within our community and reflect on the countless signs of Allah’s greatness found throughout His creation.

Whether you’re introducing your children to the outdoors for the first time or you’re already an experienced adventurer, this weekend offers something for everyone.

Arrive at YHA New Forest (6 – 8pm), settle into your accommodation and take in the peaceful surroundings as families begin to gather for the weekend ahead.

After dinner and congregational prayers, we’ll kick things off with a fun Welcome Circle, where you’ll meet fellow adventurers, discover what’s in store for the weekend and be introduced to your Safari Team. It’s the perfect way to make new friends, build excitement and prepare for an unforgettable adventure ahead.

Day 2 – Saturday, 26th September | The Great New Forest Family Safari Quest

Today, the New Forest becomes your playground!

After collecting your Explorer Pack, it’s time to choose your own adventure. There are no guided walks, no fixed routes and no pressure to keep up—just the freedom to explore at your own pace.

Wander through ancient woodland, discover open heathland, spot the famous free-roaming ponies and uncover hidden corners of the forest. Complete exciting Safari Quest challenges, photograph wildlife, collect points and enjoy a packed lunch in a scenic picnic spot chosen by your team.

Prefer to explore on two wheels? Bring your own bikes or hire them from one of the nearby villages and discover even more of the New Forest along its quiet cycle trails.

After a day filled with adventure and discovery, we’ll return to the hostel for dinner before celebrating together at our lively Safari Quest Awards Evening, where we’ll share the day’s highlights and crown our winning teams.

Day 3 – Sunday, 27th September | From Forest to Sea

Our final adventure begins with an optional sunrise foraging walk through the peaceful New Forest before we pack up and head to the coast.

We’ll explore the beautiful Bournemouth Lower Gardens before enjoying free time at Bournemouth’s award-winning beach. Stroll along the pier, paddle in the sea (weather permitting), treat yourself to an ice cream and capture those final family photos by the coast.

FAQ's

1. How do we get there?

Families are responsible for their own transportation to and from the event.

If you rely on public transit, we strongly recommend mapping your journey to ensure direct, reliable connections are available to all destinations on the itinerary before arriving.

2. What age is it suitable for?

The residential is suitable for all ages. It’s designed to cater to a range of interests and abilities, with a mix of leader-led activities (included in the price) and optional adventures that families can enjoy independently or with friends. As many of the activities involve plenty of walking, we would deem the experience most suitable for children aged 5 and above. This flexible setup allows each family to tailor their experience—whether they join group activities or create their own moments—ensuring a meaningful and enjoyable stay for all.

3. What is the accommodation like?

We’ll be staying at YHA New Forest, a welcoming countryside hostel set in peaceful woodland on the edge of the New Forest National Park. Our group will be based in one of the hostel buildings, where we’ll gather for meals, prayers, activities and evening programmes throughout the weekend.

Depending on the final number of participants and the needs of the group, accommodation may be allocated as private family rooms, shared female or shared male rooms within the building, or in camping pods or premium bell tents located within the hostel grounds. Families staying in the pods or tents will still have full access to our building and will take part in all activities alongside the rest of the group. All accommodation options include beds and bedding, with shared bathroom facilities.

Our aim is to accommodate everyone as comfortably as possible while making the best use of the available space. Accommodation allocations will be made once bookings have closed, taking into account the overall needs of the group and any preferences shared with us where possible.

Shared spaces include bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen for self-catering, dining area, and a lounge.

4. What about meals?

The weekend price is accommodation only and does not include meals, giving families the flexibility to choose the option that best suits their needs and budget.

If you’d prefer not to worry about cooking, YHA New Forest offers a range of catering options, including breakfast, packed lunches and evening meals. You can choose to book any combination of these to suit your plans. Please refer to the hostel’s website for the latest menus and prices. If you would like us to arrange meals on your behalf, simply let us know in your booking message.

Alternatively, you are welcome to self-cater using one of the following options:

  • Pre-cook at home – Prepare meals in advance, freeze them and bring them with you. Fridge and freezer facilities are available on site, and meals can be reheated whenever needed.
  • Cook at the hostel – A fully equipped shared kitchen is available, complete with cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery. Simply bring your groceries and prepare your meals during the weekend.
  • Eat out – If you fancy a treat, you can also enjoy a meal at one of the cafés or restaurants in the nearby villages.

Whichever option you choose, you’ll have the flexibility to enjoy the weekend in a way that works best for you and your family.

To help ensure a safe, respectful, and enjoyable experience for all, please read the following terms and conditions carefully:

Guests and Room Allocation

  • Accommodation for this weekend includes a range of options at YHA New Forest, including rooms within our privately hired hostel building, camping pods and premium bell tents. While our aim is to accommodate as many families as possible within the main building, allocations will depend on the final number of bookings and group requirements.

If you have a particular accommodation preference, please let us know by email when booking. We will do our best to accommodate requests, but we cannot guarantee a specific option. If no preference is provided, accommodation will be allocated by TawakCool Adventures based on the overall needs of the group.

  • The number of guests must not exceed the number of beds booked, except where a child (up to 3 years old) shares a bed with a parent — subject to organiser approval.
  • Rooms in the building are simple but comfortable, with access to shared bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a cosy lounge, and outdoor spaces that encourage exploration and reflection.
  • While we will do our best to allocate family rooms where possible, this may not always be achievable. In some cases, families may need to be split, with male and female participants accommodated in shared rooms accordingly.

Cost

  • The cost per bed is £98 for 3 days and 2 nights, regardless of age (3+)
  • Children aged 3 and under who share a bed with a parent stay free.
  • Discounts available for families receiving Universal Credit. Please specify the details on your booking form

Behaviour Expectations

  • All guests are expected to uphold Islamic values of good character, respect, and modesty.
  • Behaviour such as verbal or physical abuse, foul language, smoking (including e-cigarettes), or inappropriate dress will not be tolerated.
  • Guests who do not adhere to these standards may be asked to leave the residential without refund.

Supervision of Children

  • Adults are fully responsible for the supervision, behaviour, and wellbeing of the children in their care throughout the trip.
  • Children must be guided to respect the space, rules, and others around them.

Damage to Property

  • Any damage to property — whether accidental or deliberate — must be reported to the organisers immediately.
  • The cost of any repairs or replacements will be charged to the responsible individual(s).

Cleanliness and Cooperation

  • All guests are expected to maintain cleanliness in both personal and shared spaces.
  • At the end of the stay, guests must clean their rooms and help tidy shared areas. This is in line with the Sunnah and a valuable way to set an example for our children.

Activities

  • Participation in planned activities is optional.
  • Guests take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety and that of their family members during these activities.

Booking and Payment

  • Bookings are only confirmed once full payment has been received.
  • TawakCool Adventures reserves the right to cancel unpaid or provisional bookings.

Cancellations and Refunds

  • No cancellations or refunds are permitted within 8 weeks of the trip start date.
  • If TawakCool Adventures cancels an event, guests may request a refund or transfer their payment to a future trip.

Transferring Bookings

  • If you’re unable to attend, you may transfer your booking to another individual or family.
  • You must notify the organisers in advance, and while we’re happy to assist, finding a replacement remains your responsibility.

Photography and Filming

  • Photos and videos will be taken during the residential for marketing and social media purposes.
  • If you or your family prefer not to be photographed, please let us know in advance.

Feedback and Concerns

  • If you have any concerns during the trip, please speak to the organisers or designated residential leads as soon as possible so we can address the matter promptly.

By booking your place, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these terms and conditions.

Spaces are limited – don’t miss out on this unique experience designed with your family in mind and fill in the booking form.

We will open a dedicated WhatsApp group for all participants closer to the day.

We’ll also be holding a Zoom meeting one week before the trip to help you feel fully prepared and to answer any questions you may have.

We look forward to welcoming you on a beautiful and memorable experience with TawakCool Adventures!
