Join us this December (22nd–26th, 2025) for an unforgettable Family Residential in the heart of the breathtaking Lake District National Park.
This is a rare opportunity for Muslim families to step away from the rush of daily life and enjoy five days of connection, adventure, and spiritual growth surrounded by stunning natural beauty.

🚗 Families will need to travel by car – free on-site parking is available.
💷 £115 per person for 5 days and 4 nights (children 0 – 3yo go free when sharing a bed)

We’ll be staying at the beautiful YHA Langdale Hostel, exclusively reserved for our group — offering the warmth, comfort, and privacy of a true Islamic family environment.

Itinerary
Day 1 – Monday, 22nd December | Arrival, Welcome & Stargazing Night Walk
18:00 – Arrive at YHA Langdale Hostel and settle into your cozy, exclusively reserved family-friendly Islamic environment.
Evening:
- Welcome session – meet fellow families and hear about the week’s adventures.
- Icebreaker activities – fun, interactive games to help kids and parents bond.
- Night Walk & Stargazing – enjoy a peaceful walk under the crisp winter sky and spot constellations while breathing in the magic of the Lake District at night.
Day 2 – Tuesday, 23rd December | Waterfalls, Caves & Movie Night
Morning:
- Morning Hike: Stock Ghyll Force – an easy, scenic walk to stunning waterfalls, wooded trails, and roaring streams, perfect for families with children.
Afternoon:
- Rydal Cave exploration – wander through hidden caves and discover fascinating rock formations and local legends.
Evening:
- Family Movie Night – cozy indoor time for kids and parents to relax together.
Day 3 – Wednesday, 24th December | Adventure Choices & Family Quiz
Morning:
Activity Options – choose your adventure:
- Cycling at Whinlatter Forest (£32 pp) – ride through woodland trails, past lakes and streams.
- Forest Exploration & Llamas Experience –(£40pp) gentle forest walks with friendly llamas, ideal for children.
- Clay Pigeon Shooting (£40 or £55 pp) – a safe, supervised activity for older children and adults.
Evening:
- Family Quiz Night – fun, interactive quiz for all ages to enjoy together.
Day 4 – Thursday, 25th December | Hikes & Campfire Reflections
Morning:
Hiking Options:
- Cat Bells & Derwent Water (Intermediate/Moderate) – a rewarding hike with panoramic views over lakes and peaks.
- Blea Tarn (Easy) – a gentle lakeside walk suitable for all ages, with peaceful scenery.
Evening:
- Campfire with S’mores, Quran and Nasheeds – gather around the fire, share stories, roast s’mores, and enjoy a cozy end to the day under the stars.
Day 5 – Friday, 26th December | Communal Clean-Up, Local Exploring & Farewell
Morning:
- Communal Clean-Up – families help tidy and leave the hostel in great condition, teaching children responsibility and community spirit.
- Check-out from hostel
Local Exploring:
- Visit Windermere, Kendal, or Lancaster for a relaxed day before departure.
Jumu’ah Prayer Options:
- Kendal Community Centre – approx. 35 minutes from Langdale (12:30)
- Lancaster Masjid – approx. 1 hour away (time TBC)
Departure: Leave with hearts full of adventure, lasting memories, and reflection.

1. How do we get there?
Families make their own way either via private or public transport. You will require transportation during the residential to get to places.
2. What age is it suitable for?
The residential is designed to cater to a range of interests and abilities, with a mix of leader-led activities (included in the price) and optional adventures that families can enjoy independently or with friends. As many of the activities involve plenty of walking, we would deem the experience most suitable for children aged 5 and above. This flexible setup allows each family to tailor their experience—whether they join group activities or create their own moments—ensuring a meaningful and enjoyable stay for all.
3. What is the accommodation like?
Our accommodation is hostel-style. Please note that while we will do our best to allocate family rooms where possible, this may not always be achievable. In some cases, families may need to be split, with male and female participants accommodated in shared rooms accordingly. If keeping your family together is important to you, please contact us via email to enquire and we will check whether this can be accommodated.
Each room features comfortable bunk beds. Shared spaces include bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen for self-catering, dining area, and a lounge. The entire building is exclusively hired by TawakCool Adventures, ensuring that all facilities are used just by our group. Bed linen is provided.
4. What about meals?
Our residential is self-catering, providing flexibility for families to manage their own meals. Here are some convenient options to make food arrangements easy and enjoyable:
(a) Pre-cook at Home: You can prepare meals at home, freeze them, and bring them to the centre. There are fridge/freezer facilities on-site to store your food, which can be reheated whenever needed.
(b) Cook at the Centre: The centre features a fully equipped kitchen with all the necessary cooking utensils, crockery, and cutlery. Just bring your groceries, and you can cook meals on-site.
(c) Eat Out: You can also dine out in local restaurants.
Terms and Condtions
We will open a dedicated WhatsApp group for all participants closer to the day.
We’ll also be holding a Zoom meeting one week before the trip to help you feel fully prepared and to answer any questions you may have.
